Once word spread that that Seattle was destined to receive an official NHL team, I challenged myself to come up with what I thought a fitting brand for the team would be.
Upon accepting the challenge, I decided upon a proposed name that was proving popular among online communities: Emeralds. I felt that it perfectly represented the city of Seattle and created a unique team name that no other hockey team closely resembled. I embraced the team name and used it as the basis for the rest of my brand creation.
With this selected name, I set about creating the other elements that would form the team branding such as logos, uniforms, and marketing materials.
Design Process
Throughout this project, there was a consistent design process that I followed to create each deliverable:
BRAINSTORM several rough concepts in Photoshop in order to generate a variety of ideas
SELECT the strongest concept
FLESH OUT the chosen concept to generate a refined draft
FINALIZE the draft and create a polished design
